Generally, IT admins want to perform such activity. Therefore, the blog illustrates users with technique to perform such importing tasks.<\/div>\n<p>The procedure comprises of three main tasks and they are listed below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Generating a sharing folder for performing import task<\/li>\n<li>Enabling permission to perform import operation<\/li>\n<li>Import PST into public folder of Exchange 2013<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>Generating a Shared Folder<\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Exchange 2013, we require a new folder, which supports Import process and can be used in multiple other processes. Such folders are known as Shared Folder, generally named as EXUtil$. Since Exchange 2013 has reduced the usage of console environment and has adopted web interface, therefore, we require such file that can be created anywhere over the network.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Create such folder for performing import procedure and for getting better performance add Exchange Trusted Subsystem at Share and Security level permissions of the <strong>EXUtil$ file.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<blockquote>\n<h4><strong>Note: To Import PST to Exchange Public Folder Directly Use Exchagne Importer<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n<div><a href=\"https:\/\/www.systoolsgroup.com\/exchange-import.html\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-526\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/download-now-button.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"210\" height=\"56\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<h2>Enabling Import Permissions<\/h2>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">Exchange users must have permission enabled in their account for importing the PST files. Hence, before proceeding further go through the following steps to enable the import permission, which is by default disabled in Exchange 2013:<\/div>\n<ol>\n<li>Login into your Exchange 2013 admin account<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>permissions<\/strong> option, from the menu appearing at left-hand side of screen\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-314 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/1.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"326\" height=\"519\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click on <strong>Recipient Management<\/strong> and on the left window pane check the <strong>Assigned Roles<\/strong> list. From this list search for <strong>Mailbox Import Export<\/strong> option. If you find the option, then stop the procedure here and start importing procedure. From this window, click on + button to continue<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-316 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/4.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"555\" height=\"537\" \/><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">From <strong>Select a Role<\/strong> window, select <strong>Mailbox Import\/Export<\/strong> option and then click on <strong>add &gt;&gt; OK\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-318 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/5.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"940\" height=\"615\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/5.jpg 940w, https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/5-768x502.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Now again go to <strong>permissions<\/strong> option &gt;&gt; <strong>Recipient Management<\/strong> and you will find Mailbox Import Export option from Assigned Roles section\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-319 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/6.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"1270\" height=\"479\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/6.jpg 1270w, https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/6-768x290.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1270px) 100vw, 1270px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Now open PowerShell of Exchange 2013 on your machine and execute the following command:<br \/>\n<code>New-ManagementRoleAssignment -Role \u201cMailbox Import Export\u201d -User (user_name)<\/code><br \/>\n<strong>NOTE:<\/strong> Fill the bracket with relevant user name.\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-320 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/7.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"1056\" height=\"412\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/7.jpg 1056w, https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/7-768x300.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1056px) 100vw, 1056px\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Now <strong>log-out<\/strong> from your Exchange account and then again log-in into it.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Steps to Import PST into Public Folder Exchange 2013<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Click on &#8230; icon<\/strong> and then <strong>select Import PST<\/strong> option from the dropped down list\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-321 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/8.jpg\" alt=\"import pst into public folder\" width=\"916\" height=\"474\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/8.jpg 916w, https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/8-768x397.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.acquireforensics.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/07\/8-736x380.jpg 736w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 916px) 100vw, 916px\" \/><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the import wizard, mention the location of PST file that was saved in shared folder and then click on <strong>Next<\/strong> button.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Select the destination mailbox, where you want to archive the imported data and then click on <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">If you want that no email should be generated after completion of importing procedure, then click on <strong>Finish<\/strong> button; else go to step 5.<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\">Tick mark on the Send email option and select the mailboxes where you want to send the process completion mail. Now at the end, click on <strong>Finish<\/strong> button to import PST into public folder Exchange 2013.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3>Conclusion<\/h3>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">In this blog, we covered complete steps for importing PST files into Public folder by making use of Exchange server 2013.
